Poultry Course: This is a hands-on poultry course where students can learn all about raising chickens and turkeys from hatch to processing. During each class, students will be given responsibilities to complete on the farm to learn animal husbandry. We will discuss and practice bio-security measures to keep poultry safe from disease. We will teach a variety of topics, as well as complete learning activities and experiments focused on these topics. At the end of each class, students will be given time to record what they learned for the day in their own journal. On the last day of class, students will be encouraged to present a final poultry project. Come and join us!
Farm Chore Days: Join us on the farm during chore time! Students will gain first hand experience completing any chores we have planned for the day they attend with specific guidance. Some examples may include: 1. How to care for animals through feeding, grooming, and cleaning. 2. How to weed the garden. 3. When is the time to harvest garden produce and the best methods for each crop. 4. What can go into the compost pile, how it works, and how to build it properly. Students will not experience every learning opportunity on one day, so we hope to see them back again and again! Farm Chore Days are offered to children 7 years old to adults. Spring Garden Planting Day: Are you ready to plant? Well hold on... there are some things we need to learn and do to prepare our garden first! In today's class, students will gain first-hand experience with adding compost to the garden, tilling the garden, and planting vegetables for a spring and summer harvest! We will enjoy several learning activities from sorting seeds to identifying root, vine, and flower vegetables. This class is offered to children ages 6 - 10 years old.
Farmer's Market Course:This gardening class is recommended for children ages 5 years old to 8 years old. In this class, we teach children about different vegetables, learn how to plant vegetables, tend to them each week. practice basic measuring skills, learn the parts of a plant, practice counting, practice identify and counting money (differentiated based on your child's ability), the process of selling vegetables, and more! We look forward to providing your children with the most relevant learning experience possible! This is a class they will never forget!
Miniature Garden Class: Join us for a fun class all about making Fairy Gardens. A fairy garden is a miniature play space where children can welcome their imaginary fairy friends to a beautiful home. This class is recommended for children ages 5 -10 years old. Children can let their imagination guide them as they design the perfect home for their fairy. We will provide guidance and instruction on how to plant and care for the container garden. All materials will be provided including 1 small container, soil, stones, a selection of plants, and small accessories.

Getting Started with Backyard Poultry:Are you looking to start your first backyard chicken flock? Come learn everything you need to know about coops, runs, nutrition, brooding, predators, and MORE! Gain ideas and tips about how to raise chickens as safe and easy as possible.Take a walk on the Chicken Whisperer Farm to view brooding and coop options first hand. Let us help you get started on the right foot! This class is limited to 15 attendees.

Chicken Processing Class: Meat birds are becoming more and more a part of the homestead. Who doesn't want fresh meat from their own backyard? In this class, we'll teach you every step of the process and provide you with hands-on experience. Learn how to use a killing cone, the scalding process, plucking, evisceration, chilling, and clean up. This class is limited to 10 attendees.

Storybook Farm:Our preschool classes are recommended for children ages 3 years old to 6 years old. They will be offered one day a week. Children will listen to a short farm or nature related story, sing and dance, observe and interact with farm animals, complete activities that build learning skills in math, science, reading, fine and gross motor, and much more! The days and times we offer the class are listed below. This class is limited to 8 students so you must register ahead of time.
